Waterproof hats

We have been learning all about waterproof materials.   (Just as well because it rains a lot in November!)
Look at the amazing waterproof hats we made with Ms. Small last week.
We are so proud of them.

Our trip to space

You might think we spent the day in the classroom.
Well, we didn't!
Today we all built space ships and we took a trip to space!
We even landed on Mars and met some aliens (though talking to them was a bit of a challenge!)
It was really interesting zooming through space and seeing all the planets from our rockets.
So, if we are tired tonight it is really because of the travelling we did during our school day today.

Felt rockets

We know all our shapes.
Today we cut out rectangles, circles, triangles and squares and we put them together to make lovely felt rockets.

Clay rockets

We know the shapes in a rocket.  The main part of the rocket is made from a cylinder and the nose is made from a cone.  The wings are triangular prisms.  Our 3D rockets can even stand up by themselves!
We made some really nice clay rockets today.  They will dry over the weekend and we might paint them next week.
We would love to take a trip to space in these rockets!

Art with Lara

On Tuesday Lara came to visit us and she did some Art lessons with us. We learned all about the Water Cycle and where are rain comes from. We imagined we were a rain drop and we spoke of our adventures as a rain drop. We then drew our pictures and put our hands into the feely box and used these materials in our pictures. Then we printed some monoprints. We made lines with our fingers, nails, pencils, hairbrushes and toothbrushes. We made really nice prints. We learned all about the Rainbow and we all worked together to make a rainbow. All our Art is hanging in the classroom for you to see. Thank you Lara for a great day.

Marbling

Mikel helped us to use marbling inks to make really interesting patterns on paper.
When our sheets of marbled paper are dry we are going to use them for some spectacular artwork.
We used our marbled paper to make these wonderful space pictures:
