Clay leaf fossils

We went on a nature walk last Friday.
Today we made leaf fossils out of clay with the leaves we collected.
First of all we rolled our pieces of clay into a ball.
Next we flattened this ball of clay a little.
Then we pressed the leaf into the clay (the side with the veins next to the clay).
When we pulled off the clay we could see the imprint of the leaf left in the clay.
This is the way fossils are made.

Painted apple trees

This morning we painted some lovely trees.
Teacher brought some eating apples from home.
She cut them open and we could see the brown pips (we know an apple is ripe if the pips are brown. If the pips are still white the apple is not quite ripe yet).

We used the cut apples to print the apples on our trees.
Then we ate the extra spare apples.
They were delicious!

Rubbish bins

We like to keep our room nice and tidy.
We always put our rubbish in the bin.
We even sort it into recyclable rubbish and non recyclable rubbish, and we use the correct green or grey bin each time.
Today we made lovely rubbish bins in our art class.
They look quite realistic.

Uniforms and pencils

We painted lolly pop sticks to look like pencils.
We will use these in school to help us put finger spaces between our words when we are writing.
We also did some gorgeous paintings today....of ourselves in our school uniforms.  We were very careful to use the correct  colours for our hair and eyes so that the paintings really look like we do in real life.
