Art in Room 5
Friday, December 5th, 2008 We have been talking about the first Christmas tree, so on Wednesday we made lovely Christmas trees of our own. We painted them, cut them out, stuck them onto black paper and decorated them. Don't they look nice?
Today we made clay snowmen. Each one looks different. We wonder will they come to life like Frosty the Snowman?

Art in November
Science Week was in November. We carried out lots of scientific investigations and talked a lot about heat, air, waterproof and absorbent materials and space. Our art work reflects some of the interesting topics we covered in our talks about science. Here are some of the examples of our work: Spiral Snakes, Waterproof Umbrellas and Space Pictures. Next Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent. We made Advent Wreaths with 3 purple candles and one pink one. We will look out for wreaths if we go to church this Sunday.

Halloween Art
Monday, 20th October, 2008
In Room 5 we have been very busy getting ready for Halloween. We have been reading spooky stories from Ballybane library, have been dancing like skeletons, have been doing Halloween music and drama and of course we have been doing lots of Halloween art. Do you like our witches and skeletons, and our pumpkins and Halloween prints?

Art in September
Room 5, Senior Infants
We have been talking about ourselves and learning the parts of our bodies in Irish. Look at the nice face collages we made of ourselves.
We have also been talking about keeping our rubbish in the bins. Do you like the bins we painted and stuck? Some of them even have rubbish in them.

Art in June
Room 5 (Senior Infants) are talking a lot about the seaside so we did some really nice pictures of the seaside. We used paint with sand in it so the picture even feels sandy. We used gummed paper to make nice shapes for our pictures.
Our Dads are in for a great treat with these Father's Day cards that we made in school. After our school to Turoe Pet Farm, we did these nice farm prints with crayons and printed farm shapes.

Art in May
We have made some lovely ladybirds. They are made of papier mache. We got some yoghurt pots, covered them with newspaper dipped in flour and water. When they dried we painted them in red, with a black head and black spots. They look great.
Here are some lovely "lion in the jungle" fabric paintings that we did with our new teachers.
We also did some nice butterfly resist paintings. This means that we drew butterflies in crayon and painted on top. The crayon came through the paint to make nice pictures.
We made kites from paper, paint, skewers, string and fabric tails and bows.
It was fine but windy today, May 26th, so we went flying the kites. It was great fun.
Our kites fly best if we fly them against the wind.
Friday, 30th May, 20008
We made some lovely finger painted butterflies. We also folded them over after finger painting half, so both sides of our butterflies look the same, just like real butterflies.

April Art in Room 5
We are talking a lot about bugs and mini beasts. We have made a wormery. Rory told us that in France people eat snails. I wonder would we think they are delicious? For art today we made racing snails. We made them out of paper and material. They are having a race across the wall of our classroom now. They look great.
Inspired by our 5 healthy caterpillars, we have made wonderful caterpillar paintings. We can't wait to watch the caterpillars turn into butterflies.
We have made lovely bug pictures by painting a pond, a tree and some healthy looking grass. Then we coloured lots of different types of bugs, cut them out and gave them new homes in our paintings.
