We have been talking a lot about penguins too, so we painted rather nice penguins. We hope they can stay nice and warm in the scarves and hats we painted for them.

Snowmen
Friday, January 8th, 2010
It is really snowy outside, so in our nice warm classroom we made our own non-melting snowmen. They look really cheerful and they remind us that snow can be fun!

Tree Decorations
We have made bread decorations and fridge magnets for Christmas.
Both have been painted, glittered and have ribbons or magnets so we can use them at home over Christmas.
They look wonderful!

Christmas in Room 5
Thursday, December 3rd, 2009
It is Advent and we are busy preparing for Christmas.
We have an Advent calendar in our classroom, and we also have fun with the calendar from the interactive whiteboard on http://www.helpkidzlearn.com/advent_calendar/advent_calendar.shtm We know the Christmas story, and today we made lovely crib pictures to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. We have made nice papier mache Santa faces, and we will make lots more Christmas art in December

Messy Art Work
Last week we started some messy art projects.
We made super rockets out of clay, and we started making Santa faces out of papier mache.
There are lots of ways of making the pasted for papier mache. Our teacher makes the paste from flour and water. It smelled quite like baking as it dried over the radiators. We can't wait to finish these projects this week.

More Roaring Rockets
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
We made more rockets in art today. We each got a black sheet of paper, onto which we wrote our names, cut out felt pieces to make a rocket, used coloured wool for the fire blasting out of the rocket, then used potato prints to add stars, moons and planets to our pictures. We would love to be blasting off to space in the rockets we made.
