Mixing Paints

Red and blue makes purple, red and yellow makes orange, yellow and blue makes green.

Healthy Eating

First class have been learning all about fruit and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables help to keep our bodies healthy. We drew pictures of fruit using chalks. We made fruit plates using crepe paper, card and newspaper. We all brought in a fruit and vegetable. Teacher cut them up and we used them to make fruit and vegetable men. It was fun! Teacher made a 'Healthy Eating' display in our classroom.

Aliens and Planets

For the past few weeks, Ms Guckian's class have been learning all about aliens and planets. We read a story in our reader about aliens and decided to make aliens using glue, paper and card. They make our room look colourful. We wondered where the aliens in our reader came from and decided to find out about the planets and the solar system. We made planet mobiles using card, wool and wire hangers. Cian brought in his telescope and we all took turns looking through it.

Winter Art

First class painted some winter pictures using black and white paint. We also made snowmen from clay.

February Art in Room 5

Today, on St. Brigid's day, we made crosses. They should be made from rushes but we had none, so we used coloured paper instead. They look great anyway.

On the 14th of February it will be St. Valentine's Day. We are making nice things out of hearts for Valentine's Day.

We made hearts out of beads. Then teacher ironed them so that the beads all stick together.

We used 6 hearts to make nice 'Somebunny Loves You' cards.

We made some lovely stain glass patterns with tissue paper and black sugar paper. When we stick them on the window the light shines nicely through them.Mother's Day is on March 2nd this year. We made lots of great Mother's Day cards to show our Mums how much we love them..

Senior Infants, Room 5, January art

We have made potoato print penguins. The penguins are all sliding on the ice.We have also made pasta snowmen. They won't melt when the weather gets warmer.

We made robin collages. We see lots of robins at this time of the year. We leave out nuts for them in winter. We painted lovely winter pictures too. We made penguin pictures with pop up beaks to keep our painted penguins company. They all look very happy in the cold!

We made pinch pots out of clay. It was fun shaping the pots. We had to leave them overnight to dry and then we had to paint them, varnish them with PVA glue and even sprinkle on a little glitter to make them nice and shiny.

December art in Room 5

We have made Advent wreaths, Christmas Cribs and papier mache Santas for Christmas. Christmas is coming very soon. We are practising the songs for the Carol service on December 19th too.Look at our painted christmas trees, painted baubles, clay decorations, bread decorations, Santa cards and fabric angels. We do lots of nice art at Christmas time.
