Mini beast paintings

Inspired by our mini beast hunt, we painted the mini beasts we found in the school grounds today.
Remember to click on pictures to see them enlarged.
We really learned a lot about mini beasts, bugs and insects today.....
...and we had a lot of fun exploring the nature around us!

Galway jerseys

We are so proud of our Galway senior and minor hurling teams who will play in the ALL IRELAND HURLING FINALS next Sunday in Croke Park, and of our Galway camogie team who will play in the CAMOGIE FINAL the following Sunday in Croke Park.
Today we made origami (Japanese paper folded) GAA jerseys and painted them in the Galway colours....maroon and white!
(We made the colour maroon by mixing red and blue paints together).
COME ON GALWAY!

Beautiful butterflies

Look at the beautiful butterflies we made.
We used cardboard stencils to make the butterfly shapes.
We used marbled papers and fold over papers that we made earlier in the year.

Making bees

We made lovely bees in art yesterday and today.
We painted toilet rolls, added wings and antennae and made a headband each to hold our bees.
We will bring our bees with us when we visit the public library because this year the theme for the summer reading programme is:
Reading Buzz!
We will take our bees up to learn all about the summer reading programme.

Worms in apples

We enjoyed our art lesson.
We coloured apples and worms and then we wove our worms into our apples.
What is worse than having an apple with a worm in it?
Having an apple with HALF a worm in it....ha, ha, ha!

Billy's bucket

We are reading a fantastic book about Billy's bucket.
We are also having fun with drama based on this story.
In one scenario teacher was Billy and we were his parents.
Billy wanted a bucket for his birthday present and we had to try to put him off.
In the next scenario we were all buckets in the bucket shop and we each had to try and persuade Billy that we were the best bucket to pick.  Billy in our class finally chose a glow in the dark bucket. How cool!
In our last scenario Billy looked into his bucket and could see right down to the bottom of the ocean.
We all had a look in Billy's bucket and we told teacher what each of us could see.
We love this story.

Designing clothes

We spent yesterday investigating coats, materials, colours, reflectors, hoods, pockets etc.
Today we designed clothes.
Some of our clothes are waterproof, some are not.
They all look great.

Here is a great story (Aesop's fable) about the Sun and the North Wind
