Flying in Room 5

Thursday, April 30th, 2009We are having fun learning about stories from around the world. At the moment we are hearing lots about the story of Daedalus and Icarus from Greece. We learned that Icarus didn't listen to his Dad and he flew too close to the sun. This caused the wax on the wings he made to melt, and he fell into the sea. Today we painted nice pictures of Icarus too close to the sun.We are learning lots about flying these days. We made kites on Monday and tried flying them. It is harder to fly kites than it looks, but we had lots of fun with them.

Printed Sheep

Have a look at the lovely printed sheep we made. Can you guess what we used to print the sheep, the heads, the eyes, the grass, the legs and the flowers?

Easter art

We have been talking about the Easter story. We know what happened on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We are busy with our own preparations for Easter. Yesterday we made lovely Easter bunnies in art. It gave us a good chance to paint and construct. We know that there are lots of chicks and easter eggs to be seen at Easter time, so we made an Easter chick collage. We painted the eggs, then used crepe paper to make the lovely Easter chicks. Then we cut them out and stuck them on Easter coloured backing pages. They look great!

Mother's Day Cards

We love our Mammies. They are so good to us. We made lovely Mother's Day cards to give them on Sunday.

We have been busy getting ready for St. Patrick's Day. We made badges and some lovely jumping leprechauns.

More Spring art

After our exciting week with the Drama competiton, and seeing all the photos of frogs and frog spawn, we painted our impressions of frogs and drama. Can you guess which is which?

Spring Art

Room 5 are busy making lovely spring lambs out of cotton wool. We hope to see baby lambs in the fields too.

Drumming lessons

Our class are learning to drum. We are having lessons with Alan.

We have great fun.
We do warm up exercises, play drumming games like blindfish and drum and dance.

We are learning lots of great drumming beats.
